Passing of Dave Zeffertt
By Jim Heyworth

Dear fellow MMDers, It is with heavy heart that I call your attention
to the passing of Dave Zeffertt. He had a short battle with pancreatic
cancer and today I received this message from his brother, Tony:

"I am sorry to have to tell you that Dave died this morning at 6:30 AM.
I believe that he has had no pain during these past weeks. This is a
real blessing. I saw him yesterday and he was asleep but restless..."

Dave was active in collecting, restoring and preserving almost all
kinds of automatic instruments from musical boxes to dance organs,
jukeboxes, phonographs, microphones, a Violano and ... you name it.
He was a lot of fun and a had a real knowledge of his instruments.

Dave was one of the best ambassadors for automatic music one could
imagine. He frequently attended meetings of both AMICA and MBSI and
hosted many MBSI chapter meetings at his home in North Vancouver, BC.
He introduced many others to the wonders of our hobby and was a major
contributor to the restoration of the Burnaby Heritage Village Parker
Caroussel and its Wurlitzer band organ.

Dave has been a wonderful, generous and entertaining friend and many,
many of us will miss him terribly. So sorry to bring this news.

Jim Heyworth,
Sechelt, B.C., Canada
