Source of Rubber Cement
By Charles Hildebrant

Regarding Bill Shirley's note of the difficulty of finding Carters
rubber cement for pouch sealing. Two years ago I ran out of Carters
right in the middle of a restoration and rushed out to pick up more.
I also came up dry. I couldn't find Carters anywhere. Finally I
contacted Carters directly and, surprise surprise, they told me they
have discontinued making it. I bought small samples of every other
rubber cement I could find to see what they would be like.

I found one, Best Test Rubber Cement, that was the exact consistency
of Carters and behaved in the same ways. I use naphtha as a dilutant.
Since my first discovery of Best Test I have used it extensively and
with good success. I have found it in stationary stores and art supply
shops.
