Edison Concert/Opera
By Martin Anderson

I was wondering if anyone knew of "horns" for Edison players being made
of materials other than metal or wood?

I am in possession of a horn for the aforementioned machine that appears
to be made of "paper mache" or some type of fiberboard or cardboard.
This machine has a 5-inch mandrel. By the way, a 60 watt light bulb
placed reasonably close to a stuck cylinder (that has been left in the
attic for 35 years) is a good way to unstick it. This worked well for
me - all I had to do was put the mandrel on its end in front of a
gooseneck lamp and turn it 1/4 turn every 3 minutes. Three complete
revolutions or less than 10 minutes did the trick. Thanks for all the
E-mail help I have received on this project.
