Player Pianos and the Next Generation
By Jim Cook

I have attempted to get young people to listen to skilled musicians
on well maintained instruments, as well as inviting them to listen to
my Franklin Ampico A upright, which has been through a major rebuild
and works as expected. Most won't even bother to accept the invitation.
Those few who do accept are usually speechless at the performance of
Flight of the Bumblebee or Clair De Lune, as well as others. They
cannot imagine that this was available in the 1920's.

It is disappointing that young people are for the most part musically
illiterate. I'm not sure what can be done to reverse this trend, if
indeed, anything can be done.
