Value of Wurlitzer Theatre Organ
By Dave Goggin

[ In 000406 MMD visitor Charles Dyer described a Wurlitzer Style BX
[ theater organ he wishes to sell.

I would love to persuade my institution (Univ. of California, Irvine)
to acquire such an instrument. It's been a dream of mine for quite a
while to get a theater organ installed in the student center or some
similar place on campus. Being a lowly graduate student on a decidedly
un-nostalgic campus, the chances of getting the powers that be to go
out and buy one aren't huge. But if one were to become available not
requiring a big investment by the campus and some students got
interested in the project, well... :-)

Another possibility would be for Mr. Dyer to donate the instrument as
a charitable tax deductible action. I could perhaps persuade my campus
to accept the instrument on that basis -- this assuming the local
theater organ society would like to become its patron; I'll ask the
president tomorrow. I know Vicki Webb could MIDI-fy it (that's
essential!) and maybe add a few more ranks. I'd like to add a rank or
two of my own nascent reedless trumpet and harmonic saxophone designs
myself. What do you all think?
