Style 50 Fotoplayer in Sydney, Australia
By John Weismantel

Hi everyone, My name is John Weismantel from Sydney, Australia, and
I have just registered with MMD.

I have the dubious honor (and undoubted challenge) of rebuilding a
style 50 Fotoplayer belonging to Mastertouch Piano Roll Company, which
had been severely modified before coming into Mastertouch's collection.
All the action had been stripped and changed to a pouch system by a
"bush carpenter" (Aussie slang for an inexperienced pseudo-tradesman
using substandard materials) and the original piano, percussions and
effects are long gone. At least we have another genuine Fotoplayer
piano to use.

I have doubts that the instrument can be restored to original but,
what the heck -- we can try! Having previously worked extensively as
an amateur with Wurlitzer theater pipe organs, I am willing to give
this project my best effort, but I need to find out what the action was
like originally.

Unfortunately very little technical information seems to be available
"Down Under" so I would appreciate any assistance I can get hold of.
Can any MMD'ers point me in the right direction ?

Cheers for now,
John Weismantel
