Seek Vocalstyle 13299 "Don't Bring Lulu"
By Robbie Rhodes

Many years ago (in AMICA bulletin Vol. 27 No. 1, Jan/Feb 1990)
Dave Junchen wrote that he was looking for an 88-note piano roll
of "Don't Bring Lulu" which was included on his favorite old LP,
"Plinkety! Plank! Plunk!" He said that he checked performances
on Duo-Art, Ampico, Welte, Pianostyle, International, QRS, Imperial,
Supertone and US, but none were the "special roll."

Dave described it as "a fine hand-played performance with a
particularly hot jazz coda which just about tears up the paper."
Ed Sprankle checked the LP and adds, "Not only is there a
heart-stopping coda, but there's an interlude that is its equal,
except a bit longer!"

Frank Himpsl believes that the artist is Rudy Germain, who made
several hot fox-trot arrangements for Vocalstyle. In addition,
the 1926 catalog lists "Don't Bring Lulu" played by Rudy Germain,
Vocalstyle 13299.

Has anyone seen this roll? It surely deserves recutting.
