Restoring Glossy Black Piano Finish

My response:  Many of the old instruments died the wood with black
aniline dye.  I have used India Ink and modern Black NGR stain.

Now the response from my newly rediscovered refinisher (the only
refinisher I have never had reason to fire):

Higgins India Ink will look best with the clear shellac covering it.
