Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Art Reblitz

The movie featuring Rock Hudson mentioned by Don Teach in yesterday's
MMD is "Man's Favorite Sport?" made in 1964. One scene shows the
interior of a large red or pink room with nickelodeons and arcade
machines lined up around the walls, including a Cremona J orchestrion.

Several people have told me that the scene was filmed at the 1962
Seattle World's Fair. Can anyone positively identify the owner of
the collection that was located there?

I can verify that the location was definitely not the "Red Room" in
the Cliff House gift shop complex in San Francisco, as the room is
different and the Whitney brothers (owners of the Cliff House/Sutro
establishment) never owned a Cremona J.
