FS: Tokay Player Piano
By Benjamin Haas

Hello All, Last night, I went to see a player piano that was for sale
in our local paper. I am not interested in it (read "my wife won't
allow it"), but I thought I would post this in case anybody is.

It says "Tokay - made exclusively for Allied piano manufacturers" on
the fall board. I can't find any information about that brand. It is
serial number 169549. It is a very plain looking case finished in a
deep red color. The finish is so dark and crazed that I can't see what
wood it is underneath. I imagine it is Mahogany veneer.

The style of case would make me think it is from around 1920 but
the tracker bar is tubed with lead, which I thought was a much older
way of doing it. It has a Standard action. The case is banged up
in a lot of places, but not damaged otherwise. The bench is missing.

It still plays, but you must pump so rapidly that I imagine it has
many leaks. About 5 notes don't play when played by hand. It looks
like it has been gone through awhile back by someone who wasn't a
purist because I can see some ugly hose clamps and clear vinyl tubing
here and there. The keys have been re-covered with plastic and two
or three are chipped.

It would make someone a nice project. The woman's name is Candy.
Her phone number is (970) 669-7173 (Loveland, CO). She wants $500.
Please tell her that I sent you.

Benjamin Haas
