Restoring Glossy Black Piano Finish
By Larry Mayo

I have used black automotive lacquer with good results in finishing
a piano. It requires a lot of layers, and quite a bit of rubbing.
I used Brasso for the final rubbing, and it leaves a mirror finish.

The major problem I have discovered, to my irritation, is that this
finish is very prone to chipping. Did I do something wrong, or is
this just the nature of the stuff?
