Antique Store Prices
By Julian Dyer

UKP 9500 for an upright Weber 88-note player piano! Wow, that's a good
one -- about six to ten times its worth in the present market, unless
competently rebuilt. Kevin McElhone suggests a fair price of UKP 3000,
but that would buy you a Duo-Art, and one that had been semi-rebuilt
at that. (A recent seller could only get UKP 3000 for a beautifully
rebuilt 5' Rogers Ampico grand, and the recent PPG bulletin offers a
Steinway upright Duo-Art at UKP 3000.)

I never know whether to be upset about these prices or amused by them.
Depends whether some poor mug ends up with overpriced dross, I suppose.
It's always interesting that sellers of such goods rarely seem
interested in buying at more than (say) 30% of their selling price!
