Piano Moving Fees
By Karl Ellison

I have a dilemma. I need to have my 950-pound upright Autopiano moved
from my Eastern Massachusetts residence to a college 5 miles down the
road, first-floor to first-floor move, then, back again later that day.
The school is flipping out because their regular mover has quoted $880
for the job, and their budget is $600 for the entire event I'll be
performing at.

I've never paid over $225 for a move, and that one was for many more
miles. Although this amount sounds ludicrous, can anyone knowledgeable
of piano moving comment on it?

I've a number of calls in to "Larry, Darryl and Darryl" type movers
because I'm up against a wall now, and waiting for their return calls
isn't working either. I am also patiently waiting for "Death Wish
Piano Movers" of Cambridge to return my call; they've been mentioned
favorably in a past MMD.

Any other leads you can proffer for a Sept 18th double move will be
gratefully received!
