Relative Humidity and the Piano
By Tom Lathom

I've been reading about the humidity problems recently. Most of
the posts seem to be coming out of the colder parts of the US and,
I believe, some from the UK. I live in northern Florida and am curious
to know if people in these parts experience the same problem.

This year seems to be the coldest winter that we've had in the 12 years
that I've lived in Florida. Shortly before these posts started I found
that neither my Bush & Lane Welte reproducing piano nor my Seeburg K
were working properly. They barely sound the notes at all. I'm hoping
this is the same humidity problem that's been discussed here. I've not
experienced this before. Any feedback is appreciated here or direct to
me by e-mail. Thanks.
