Good morning, good afternoon or good evening MMDers everywhere.  I read
good reasons both for and against a mandatory subscription fee for MMD.

Originally I had understood from the link on the FOPS site, that it was
free.  Uh, then it turned out that the editors requested a donation which
I subsequently made via a secure server.  Had it been said at the
outset that it was a manually-maintained and fully moderated list it
would have made more sense to me and I would have paid up a bit more
willingly.

Thirty US dollars are around 60 Australian dollars, making MMD
about one dollar per week, which has been cheap for the entertainment
and enlightenment I have received.

Were it to continue as a manually moderated list, the charge is
reasonable and I wouldn't have any objection to renewing my
subscription.  Were it to go automatic then I would not pay for that
as I am on several free lists including the new FOPS forum.

If, as it seems, the secure server option is no longer available,
I would not be willing to pay for the privilege, as getting a bank draft
costs an extra $10 Aus and it is time consuming and a right pain.  So
if the list is only to be available by subscription, for me it would
need to be paid by secure server.  Otherwise, regretfully I would
un-subscribe and be content with the FOPS forum for my daily mechanical
music fix.
