Credit Card Prices
By Mike 'Fox' Morrey

As someone who has much experience in retail, I think you're looking
at it backwards, John.

First off, to clarify others reading, it's not "charge extra for
accepting credit card payments", it's "charge extra FOR a credit
card transaction". Big difference. :>

The idea behind it was that accepting credit cards is/was a bonus for
retailers: it brought in more customers. It would allow a seller or
retailer access to a wider base or customers than s/he normally would
have, therefore increasing overall sales. Sure, you would have to pay
a fee, but overall, you would be making more because of the influx of
customers.

I know, I for one, would never buy anything over the Internet if they
didn't accept a credit card. Safer for me, easier to track.

So the question is up to the retailer: lose customers because you don't
accept cards, or make slightly less profit on each sale, but keep a
wider customer base.

TO keep this somewhat piano-related, I moved! Waiting for my house to
get built, then I get to drag my player 1600+ miles from Colorado down
here to Georgia. I'm going through withdrawals -- I need to hear my
baby!
