Coin Pianos at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlors
By Glenn Morris

I spoke with Bob Farrell this morning, and he told me that all the coin
pianos were acquired and modified by a small private businessman who
found old players and rebuilt them for Mr. Farrell. This individual is
no longer in business. The pianos were definitely not manufactured by
a large "brand name" firm.

Mr. Farrell started out with one small parlor in Portland, Oregon, and
I have been there many times. I believe it is still in operation under
different ownership, but I haven't been there for several years.

After expanding to the Marriott, Mr. Farrell started Newport Bay
restaurants here in Portland, OR. I believe that he has sold most of
his interests in these, but still has some connections and a office at
Newport Bay corporate offices. A Newport Bay manager told me he
travels a great deal and conducts "motivational workshops." He is
quite a speaker, I am told.

Musically,

Glenn Morris
