Coin Pianos at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlors
By Glenn Morris

Hi All, Since I am not as experienced or well acquainted as some of
the MMD'ers on the various player pianos and their mechanisms, I will
attempt to give you a bit more clarification on the original Farrell's
Ice Cream Parlor piano in Portland OR.

1. This piano is taller than the average player piano, made up through
the 'thirties.

2. I mentioned "spoolbox." It was not my intention to mislead you,
but the very large paper rolls that play multiple selections are not
enclosed in a "box". They appear to be attached to a frame. They
rotate and appear somewhat like a band organ roll mechanism.

This entire mechanism is located on the lower right side and not in the
center like many player pianos. Perhaps this is a "Seeburg" roll frame!
I wish I knew, as it is not like the spoolbox in a traditional player
piano. If you like, I can take a picture of it and send it to you and
MMD. No problem.

3. The xylophone is located high up on the back and is centered.

Musically,

Glenn Morris
