The subject of pin tighteners, specifically "Pin-Tite", has been
discussed in this forum some years ago (1997).

In that discussion, one person suggested that "the PTG Journal produce
an article on the use of pin-tighteners", whereas another person (Roger
Waring) promised that he "shall use 'Pin-Tite' in accordance with the
guidelines provided with the product..." and "In six months time I will
invite a very experienced tuner to assess the instrument's condition",
after which the result would be published in MMD.

I am sure that other people got curious after reading the discussion,
and did some experiments with it as well.  What I would like to know is
what the experiences of all these people were.  Has any of this
research been published somewhere?

The arguments in favour of the use of "Pin-Tite" by Craig Brougher were
quite solid, but to be convinced of its usefulness (or harmfulness),
it is necessary to learn the opinion of other people _who used it._

("Pin-Tite" is the brand name supplied by Lunsford-Alden; it is not
my aim to give this company some free advertising, but apparently there
was some confusion in the past discussion).

So my question is to all people who used "Pin-Tite": If you have used
this material some time ago, please share your experiences -- whether
good or bad!

To keep the information factual, maybe you could state the age of the
piano, how loose the pins were before you started, how the "Pin-Tite"
was applied (i.e., according to the instructions, or differently),
how long ago it was applied, what is the condition of the piano X years
after the treatment, and any additional comments on why the treatment
went either right or wrong.

I hope that sharing the diverse experiences from different people will
provide a more funded basis for others to decide whether to use it or
not.
