Seek Air Motor Governor for 1931 Waltham Player
By Fred Wilharm

Greetings to all, I am new to the mechanical music scene but
recently got very interested and now am compiling a collection to
open a small museum (as an addition to my antique mall). The museum
will include phonographs, jukeboxes, self playing instruments and
regular musical instruments.

My first acquisition was a 1931 Waltham player piano. The player
mechanism was not working when purchased. I partially disassembled
it, did a lot of research, inspecting and tinkering, and a few weeks
later had it working.

The piano is electrified and I've noticed that the speed is not
constant during playing of a roll -- it is prone to slow down some
during passages requiring heavy vacuum. I have found nothing
resembling an air motor governor and suspect it has been removed.

Assuming that some pianos have air motor governors that are not part
of the windchest assembly, does anyone have an extra governor they
can sell me?

Thanks in advance,

Fred Wilharm
