Duo-Art Parts List
By Dean Randall

Greetings folks, I received the following note from a fellow in
Portugal. I don't know how to reply to him since this is not something
I would consider doing myself.

I don't know if or not he's an MMD subscriber, so if anyone can help
him, you might want to reply directly to him as well as to MMD.

Dear Mr. Dean Randall, Maybe you can help me on this 'odd task' of mine.

I'm a piano and a player piano rebuilder in Lisbon, capital city of
Portugal. I have a fantastic Canadian Williams (new scale) player
piano with a theme Otto Higel action (the wood model), very responsive
and one of the most well done actions I have ever seen. I'm very
pleased with it; with height 1.45m (57 inches) it gives an impressive
deep bass and a very nice 'singing' treble.

Well, I'd love to convert it into a Duo-Art. I know more or less the
theory, but so far I never restored one, so I know that it's going to
be tricky but not impossible. What I'd like to ask is to correct my
list of what I have to get and any comments about the best system that
I should get to this project of mine. Well, it doesn't matter if the
levers don't move or if the reroll/replay exists, I'd like just to walk
around in my place and listen some 'dynamic' music without pumping.

Duo-Art devices:

 - Duo-Art bar
 - Themodist cutoff device
 - Themodist primary box
 - Primary dynamic valves box
 - (Full) Duo-Art expression box
 - Duo-Art/88-note cutoff box or switch
 - Electric motor with the bellows pump

Do you think that this is enough?

Kind regards
