Wurlitzer Caliola Restoration
By Tom Wilson

Hello everyone, especially Julie Porter: I have an original
Wurlitzer Caliola in my possession awaiting restoration. We've had
this instrument for about 16 years; it's been waiting that long to be
redone. While the case is in very poor shape, I think most everything
is there in the interior (gearing, roll frame, both bellows, all pipes,
etc.). I am missing one of the metal valves.

I will be starting the restoration this fall, crackle paint and all.
I'll also build a second one from scratch as I restore the original.

Julie, or others interested in Wurlitzer Caliolas: Is there any
information you'd like as I get started into this project?

About 13 years ago I restored a Wurlitzer 104, still in use on a
carousel in Cincinnati. That was my first project and I developed a
high level of interest in organs. As I approach retirement (two years
away -- I'm 45 now) it's time to prepare for the next fun projects.

Julie, are you a source for Wurlitzer parts as well? Someone said you
purchased Doyle Lane's inventory. Count me in as someone interested in
the reproduction of parts. I haven't been involved in any chapters or
clubs -- just watched the MMD board.

The Mid-America Band Organ Rally in Wabash Indiana was _great!_
It was the first I attended.
