Organ Pipe Finish
By Michael Taylor

Hello to all,

My name is Michael and I live just south of Sydney in Australia. I've
started to build a small Pipe organ now that I've retired from the
workforce. I've made several flute type wood pipes from locally
available timbers and rough tuned them to play on 6 inches of water
pressure.

The questions I would like to ask is: "What wood finish to use on the
pipes -- Shellac, Oil, Beeswax, or some modern day plastic clear
varnish?"

I would like the wood finish to be clear so the natural timber effect
shows through and do I treat the inside of the pipes in any way also
would any treatment change the tone or tuning of the pipes

Best wishes to all,

Michael J.Taylor
