Sankyo 20-Note Music Box Plays Book Music
By David Sharpe

Does anyone have any experience with the Sankyo 20-note music box
mentioned by Robbie Rhodes in 011111 MMDigest? I went to the
seller's web site Robbie cited and thought the music box looks
attractive. I read the MMD Archives about the Sankyo movement.
The catalog description of this one says, "inner workings are made
of gold-tone acrylic." Is this true? Is the comb, gears, etc.,
all acrylic? How do they hold up?

Some of the Archive articles discuss cutting more music for this
movement. Does anyone know if this Christmas box will take other
music books? It appears to have a continuous loop of folded music
sheet. I wonder if there is any provision for changing the sheet.

I am very tempted to buy this box but would appreciate any comments
on this or other Sankyo 20-note movements.

[ The phrase "gold-tone acrylic" is in the description of item
[ 6057, Player Music Box, is printed in the I received in the
[ mail. The description at http://www.personalcreations.com/
[ doesn't contain this phrase. The basic Sankyo 20-note mechanism
 [ is metal. See http://mmd.foxtail.com/Sounds/sankyo20.html
 [ and http://www.angelfire.com/ma/mandaclair/plingplong.html
[ I don't know for certain that item 6057 uses the Sankyo
[ movement; maybe my assumption is wrong. -- Robbie
