Most modern UK video recorders will replay NTSC tapes (525 lines, 30
frames/second) in a way that most UK TVs (625 lines 25 frames/second)
will accept.  A few older TVs might give slightly reduced height
pictures or need their field hold adjusted.

Yes, you can have the videotape converted, but a low cost conversion
will normally have unpleasant artifacts such as motion judder.
