Todd,  I was looking over your web site and in particular the section
labeled "Todd Augsburger's Roller Organ Label Information", at

  http://www.rollerorgans.com/Roller_Organ_Labels.htm

In the Labels section you have shown various styles of roller organ
labels.  In viewing them I noticed that in all, other than the red, of
course, there was a hint of red in each label.  Not being familiar with
all the types of roll labels originally available, it occurred to me
that the current variations in color may not have been original but a
result of a lifetime in, out of, or around sunlight.  I could plainly
see that as the reason for so many variations today.

Has anybody considered this or is this a known fact?  Again I only
offer it as a possibility.  If it is proven that red was the only
original color, what would be the appropriate course of restoration
with, say, a roll with one buff label missing?  In other words, replace
both the missing and present label with red labels or replace only the
missing label with (red or buff ?)?  Ah, the eternal restoration
dilemma.
