A number of brand names of early piano rolls are names that we still
see today in the music and film industries: Paramount, Capitol, etc.

Are the current companies true descendants of the companies that made
piano rolls?  I have always made the assumption that they are, selling
music then on piano rolls, now on CD.  Am I correct in this assumption?

 [ name to Capitol Roll & Record Co., probably because of objections
 [ from Columbia Records.  I believe Capitol Records, Hollywood, of
 [ the late 1940s, is unrelated.  Frank Himpsl wrote in 970306 MMD that
 [ circa 1927 or '28 the Connorized company became Paramount Music Rolls
 [ of New York; maybe Connorized was purchased by Paramount Films.
