Ampico Artist Edgar Fairchild
By Karl Petersen

I met Mr. Fairchild once about 1970 at an AMICA meeting at the Phil
and Alma Hill home in Santa Monica, Calif. Fairchild had been musical
director for many films and had lived in the Los Angeles area working
in movies for many years. He played a few pieces, perhaps Satie or
Poulenc, and was so modest as to his contributions to the Ampico and
our interests that I thought it would take many visits to shake loose
the lore which he had almost pushed aside.

Phil had also "discovered" Wilbur Chenoweth about the same time in the
LA area! I am afraid very few original artists are yet with us.
