Hello!  I actually think it is a laterna, for two reasons:

1)  its looks are very similar to a laterna in the Bill Lindwall
collection (playing, among other things the "Never on Sunday" theme);

2)  almost all the text on the label was scratched out, but some
letters were readable.  I don't think that German (or Turkish) names
begin and start with P-NOV (-NOY) and / or Z-ON.

Now, learning that a Greek hand-turned instrument is called a laterna,
I would like to know if there are any links with the "Laterna Magica"
used by many street-organ players in the old (pre-MIDI) days?

 [ Good idea!  Laterna magica (magic lantern) is a projector for glass
 [ slides (diapositives).  My 7 kg dictionary of 1927 also says that
 [ 'laterna' is a variant of 'lanterna'.  In Europe 'laterna magica'
 [ also meant a show (theatre) which combined film and live
 [ performances, much like the 'nickelodeon' theater in America.
 [ Maybe the laterna played music at the magic lantern theater in
