Function of Player Piano Control Levers & Buttons
By Jenny Willcock

I have recently replaced some tubing on my 1916 G. Heintzman player
piano. It is a burlesque beauty, complete with electric lights on each
end. But what do the levers on the keybed do?

From left to right, I see three buttons, then two levers, then two
buttons, and another lever. I know that the middle lever controls the
tempo, but what function do the remainder serve?

Apparently, my piano is still in need of some work because these levers
and buttons do not seem to change anything. Can anyone tell me what
they should be doing? Thanks!
