Serinette in New England
By Charles Ferguson

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

To the readers of the MMD: I was given the remains of a serinette
years ago, and I recently had it restored. Its appearance and
construction are identical to the plates in Part IV of Dom Bedos.

To our surprise, three of its eight tunes are: "Yankee Doodle,"
"God Save the King," and "Vive la Compagnie." The other five tunes
have an Irish lilt to them, but they're not familiar.

Please write if you know anything about its possible origin, or how
many serinettes there are in the U.S.

Thanks for your help.
