Cutting Grooves for Organ Pipe Tuning Slide
By Jules Shaffer

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

In the case of wooden organ pipes such as violins that are tuned by a
metal slide that covers more or less of a slot at the top of the pipe,
can anyone please explain how the grooves are cut inside the pipe for
the slide?

One person told me he thought they are cut before the pipe is glued
together, and that may be true in large pipes, but it doesn't seem
practical in small ones. Thanks much.
