eBay Transactions
By Deane Wiley

I buy three or four player pianos on eBay each year. In my opinion,
the prime "price setter" is location, e.g., the distance between the
possible buyer and the seller. I buy only south of San Francisco and
west of Tucson! This coincides with my ability to pick up the piano
with my own truck.

Another "price setter" is the eBay category. If people get carried
away with words like "antique" and "one of a kind", etc., etc., people
looking for player pianos may miss these "more sophisticated"
categories.

A third mention is communication. I start early, if I'm interested,
and ask many questions concerning sound board condition, completeness
of piano (is everything there!), etc.

A last mention. Many people get their pianos "appraised"! This is
rarely a price that anyone on eBay is going to pay for a player piano
unless it is really special!

(Please, don't anyone in the geographical area mentioned above email
me with offers to sell! I pretty much find what I need by myself.)
