Reducing Blower Motor Speed
By Tom Gregory

Greetings: We have a 1920's silent Meidinger 50 Hz blower supplying
wind for a Mustel Concertal Harmonium. I believe the blower was part
of the original installation.

Is there any way to slow the blower other than rebuilding the motor?

Best wishes,

Tom Gregory
Waukesha, Wisconsin

[ The best method (although it's rather expensive), I believe, is
[ to install a frequency converter that changes 60 Hz power into 50
[ Hz power. Perhaps one of our readers who has successfully installed
[ such a device can report to us. To my knowledge an AC induction
[ motor cannot be rebuilt to run at 80% speed; reducing the mains
[ voltage to reduce the shaft speed risks overheating. Read the
[ description of Tom's Mustel player harmonium in 991026 MMDigest,
