MMD:  In AMICA Bulletin Volume 41, Number 5, there is a very good
article called "Ampico Music Cabinets," by Jerry Biasella.  I understand
the cabinets are quite rare, and until I read the article, I had no
idea one was actually in my possession.  My piano teacher here in
Boston uses a Louis XVI short-legged style cabinet to store old sheet
music (which she eventually plans to give me).  When I first saw it
I didn't know what it was, but after I read this article I recognized
it immediately and ran over to the studio to examine it more
thoroughly.

As soon as I swung open the panels, I saw the Ampico logo, beautifully
preserved.  Although there weren't any rolls in it (darn!), the cabinet
itself is in immaculate condition.  I used to call it "The Monster
Cabinet" because it's so big I thought it stored so much music that
my teacher could pull out at any moment and force me to sight-read;
I'm not so afraid of it anymore.

Since I will inherit this thing, I would like to know an approximate
value of it's worth.  I suppose it might be of special interest to
Ampico collectors, but I intend to hold on to it so I can store my
Ampico rolls in it,(because it shouldn't be used as some endless and
terrifying black hole of sight-reading material).  Of course, I still
have to figure out how I'm going to get it back to home in Oregon.
