Theater Organ on Catalina Island
By Bob Loesch

Hello Joyce, and MMD. The Page organ on Catalina is a real
beauty, and I've seen it in person, though I've yet to play it myself.
I saw a silent film, accompanied by Gaylord Carter, many years ago,
and have later heard the organ, played by both a real live organist and
its digital player. I've also gotten a good recording of the organ
played by Bob Salisbury, purchased at the theatre gift shop.

It's a 4-manual, 16-rank beauty, and it was the only 'original'
silent-era organ with three complete rows of curved stops. Great
sound! Hope to be able to play it some day!

I tried to put a photo of the Avalon Page on my web site, but
I can't get it to work. I'll try again tomorrow.

Regards,
