I note subscribers' interest in music boxes in films, etc., and as
an old radio buff I wanted to pass along to those who care(!) that
an episode of "The Shadow", called "The Death Triangle", contains the
following music box and story-line:

Three escapees from the French penal colony at Devil's Island used
a particular melody to warn each other of danger while working on their
plans to flee.  Years later a music box -- in the shape of a coffin,
no less -- with that melody shows up to threaten those who supposedly
stole one escapee's food and water while fleeing in a boat.

Sounds like the "Black Spot" from "Treasure Island," no?  The episode
contains a snippet of the melody as well.
