History Of Hallenberg/Bellm Welte Console Sought
By Ken Snowden

Hi,

Does anybody out there know the background of the particular Welte
Mignon "Original" console (push-up) that was owned by collector Bernard
Hallenberg in the 1960's and later by Walt Bellm? It was pictured in
the early, soft-cover two-volume version of the Bowers "Encyclopedia Of
Automatic Musical Instruments," in Ord-Hume's "Automatic Pianos," and
others.

Distinguishing characteristics of this particular specimen are the
replacement Ampico pump and a few other modifications evidently done by
the time the Hallenbergs owned it. I am hoping there is still someone
alive who worked on it or who knows where it came from originally.

Currently the console is being restored. We are still looking for
certain parts: governor (tempo box) for the roll motor, tracking
mechanism, play-rewind and shutoff mechanisms. Any leads would be
appreciated.
