In going through my old factory manuals I found that the Autopiano
(deLuxe) suggested using Vaseline on the reroll brake.  No mention was
made about the payoff [supply spool] brake.  Others suggested cleaning
the pads and using graphite powder on the pads.  I didn't see anybody
suggesting to use oil, something I have been doing for years.
