Roll Scanning Demo at AMICA Meeting in Calif.
By Spencer Chase

Hello, Roy Powlan will be hosting a meeting of the Founding Chapter
of AMICA at his Orinda home on Saturday, August 20th. In addition
to his collection of pianos and nickelodeons, I will be bringing
some items to demonstrate the process of roll archival and electronic
playing. I will have a piano roll scanner which scans rolls as wide
as Welte T100 and a late model Welte Licensee-format Vorsetzer.

The plan, if all goes well, will be to play a roll or several on Roy's
original T100 Vorsetzer, scan them, convert to Licensee format and then
play the files on my Licensee Vorsetzer which runs from the computer
via MIDI files. It should be fun, or at least confusing. I hope that
all of my equipment makes it without damage.

Please contact me if you need directions to Roy's or for any other
questions. New potential members are welcome as are all AMICA members.

Best regards,
Spencer Chase
