I don't like to use rubber bands for roll storage either.  I've found
too many rolls with permanent indentations down the middle.  Anything
that discourages the roll from laying flat on the tracker bar is a bad
thing.

If your box is the right size, why do you even need rubber bands? (And
I live in earthquake country!)
