Hi John,  I am Joseph G. Molinari, the grandson of G. Molinari.
I am named after my grandfather and great grandfather.  The "G" in
"G. Molinari & Sons" is for Giuseppe, the Italian name for Joseph.

The Molinari family came from Genoa, Italy, sometime in the late
Eighteenth Century.  By 1842 their factory was located at 153 Elizabeth
Street, New York.  The address on Baxter street you mentioned was my
great grandfather's residence.  (Baxter Street is a few blocks from
Elizabeth Street).  I don't know why that address was used.

In 1892 they were forced to relocate because the Elizabeth Street site
was needed for road and bridge expansions.  They chose Brooklyn because
the Brooklyn Bridge had recently opened and was very close to New York.

I have just retired and I am now in the process of doing a book on the
"History of G. Molinari & Sons".  Many years ago I inherited crates
full of Molinari documents.  I have not yet gone through the contents,
but now that I have time I will take them out of storage and try to
make some order out of it.  I am sure they contain most of the business
records -- my family _never_ threw anything away!

I am the only one interested in this project; the rest of the family
feels there is no need to record the "History of G. Molinari & Sons".
