Dear MMD:  Church organ builders reckon that on average one rank of
pipes needs about 10 CFM.  On this basis, Mr. DeWitt's blower is more
than enough for a rank of violin pipes.  Obviously, a rank of trombones
needs more wind than a flute.

I use a nominal 200 CFM two-stage blower to supply wind to a 70 key
Hooghuys dance organ which has basses, accompaniments, six melody
registers, two countermelody registers, bass drum, cymbal, snare drums,
triangle and castanets. Still present are the original bellows which
supply about 100 CFM when the music card speed is 3.5 metres/minute.
