Phenoseal for Repairing Pot Metal
By Pat DeWitt

Hi All, I just found another use for Phenoseal. The rotating
pot metal portion of my Ampico A "modify" switch was badly cracked.
(Is it always the modify switch that goes bad first? I have seen
three pianos with bad modify switches where the other three switches
were fine.)

I impregnated it with Phenoseal, let it dry and then smoothed the
sealing surface flat with a fine file. The assembly now tests fine
with no leaks. Does anyone know if the Phenoseal will penetrate well
enough to prevent further deterioration?
