Hi all.  I am really curious as to how the hammer mechanism in barrel
pianos work.  I do know how ordinary pianos work, but on barrel pianos
the hammers come back away from the strings before striking, as opposed
to simply moving forward as in upright pianos.

Can anybody tell me how they work or post a diagram?
