Plating Metal Parts
By Dave Geissinger

On the subject of electroless nickel plating, there is a company
named Caswell that sells all kinds of plating kits including various
sizes for electroless nickel plating. The kits come complete with
everything you need including instructions and help. The web site
is http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/electroless.htm I don't know
anything about them except what I read on their web site.

I have thought of using one of their kits for redoing the nickel
plated, low-polish brackets, etc., in a Duo-Art system. Much of the
old finish is slightly pitted. Some questions:

1. Is it necessary to remove the old plating? Can this be done without
electrolysis?

2. Should threaded screw holes, etc., be plugged to keep the plating out?
If so, how?

3. Has anyone had experience with one of Caswell's kits?
