Karl Ellison recently asked about a simple free MIDI File Editor.
He did not specify the computer platform.

I use a Macintosh and have used a free, easy to use (for simple
things, anyway) MIDI sequencer and editor.  It is called MidiGraphy.
It is full-featured and very powerful, but has not been upgraded
to Mac System X.  If you can use Mac System 9 or earlier I highly
recommend it.  Check Google for download sites.

I tried "MidiGrasshopper" which is a fairly inexpensive (about $25.00)
program for System X, but I had enough trouble getting adjusted to it
that I have stuck with MidiGraphy and System 9.  You can download a
trial version of MidiGrasshopper for free.  The trial version does
everything the full program does except you cannot save.

For the PC, a program called "Noteur" has been mentioned in MMDigest.
I think it is aimed at band organ users and I think it is free.

It plays my MIDI files and allows extensive editing but, at least
as far as I can tell, it ignores the sustaining pedal and soft pedal
coding.  It seems to have many useful features and perhaps I just
have not found the pedals.

If anyone finds a better free PC program or can tell me how to edit
the pedals (notes 40 and 43) in Noteur, I hope he/she will write to
MMDigest about it.
