Universal Player Piano Motor Problem
By Pete Knobloch

Hi Bob and MMD friends, I think you are experiencing a very common
problem with the Universal player vacuum motors. The first thing
to do is to remove the hose to the pump and measure the vacuum level.
If it reads 0 to 5 inches, disconnect the power and remove the vacuum
box. Inside you will find the motor, which should be pushed up to
the top of the box. This should create a tight seal, but if the motor
has dropped, you will have to replace the black sponge rubber block
found at the bottom of the motor. Replace it with thick green piano
felt.
