Joel Gautier asks about striker pneumatic cloth strips and which
direction it should be ripped [060511 MMDigest].  I have only seen one
reference to the bias of pneumatic cloth but don't remember who brought
it up.

There is definitely a firm and stretchy direction of the cloth.  The
only time that I would worry about this is in the reservoir areas where
constant pressure is exerted on the cloth due to a spring.  When it
comes to striker pneumatics, it really doesn't matter at all.

I just take the 52" length cloth and rip it into twenty-two 1.5-inch
width strips, starting at the front edge of the roll.  Each of these
strips is then split into quarters.  This makes 88 strips with a size
of 1.5 X 13 inches, which is usually large enough for most striker
pneumatics.  It just so happens that the stretchy side runs the 13-inch
length.  Others may have different opinions as to the bias of the cloth
but it just doesn't matter when it comes to the striker pneumatics.
