Vinyl Pouches & Silicone Polish
By David Dewey

Hi all, Creativity is sometimes a good thing. How long your vinyl
pouches will last is a great question. However, how long they will
last when treated with Armor All(r) is not! The answer is "A _very_
short time."

Armor All, and any similar product containing silicone, is a death
knell to plastics. If you have plastic key tops, the fastest way to
"antique" them with many cracks is to put something with silicone
on them. The stuff gets into the plastic "pores" and relieves the
stresses in the plastic (from the molding or gluing processes) and
allows them to become concentrated, whereupon the plastic cracks at
the concentrated stress area.

One should also be careful of one-step dust & polish products; many
of these contain silicone.
